Many people still believe in superstition. For example, you must not grow papaya trees in your home yard as this will only make you experience misfortune. Thorny flower threes in the yard also causes good fortune to be broken before it reaches you. There are still so many examples of superstition that is nothing to do with your fate or luck.
Some people are affected with this superstition. They throw away all things from their houses because they really believe in the power of superstition. I hope you do not belong to this group of people who are easily influenced by superstition.
I used to be influenced by this superstition. Some friends of mine said to me that my house was in the unlucky position. The position would only make my stream of luck like a dripping faucet. No matter how hard you tried to make money, the money would come to me like dripping water—not like a heavy flow of stream. What I did to avoid this bad effect of the house position was to send for someone who knew anything about it. I did but soon stopped it as I found that I spent a lot to pay for his service.
I now leave it to God who determines everything in this world. I remember one verse in the Holy Book that says that God shall not change anything unless we try to change it ourselves. Let’s just believe in God and do not listen to superstition. Instill confidence that we are the ones who determine our lives—not superstition.
